Some competitions run much longer than a normal Just Play season. When that happens, we split it into two separate registrations, rather than selling the whole thing at once. For example, a 22 game competition becomes two 11 game registrations. You pay for part 1, play it, then renew into part 2 or opt out.
A Just Play season isn't always the venue's season
Our venue partners run all sorts of season structures. Some run two very long seasons a year, others run four shorter ones. A Just Play season is the number of games shown on the league listing. That number is our best estimate, and it can change because of byes, grading games, finals or forfeits.
Why we split
It keeps the upfront cost down. Seasons are priced per game, so half a season costs about half as much to register for. See How does payment work, and what does my fee cover?.
It gives you an exit point. Committing to a very long season in one go is a lot to ask if your work or study changes through the year. Most of the team usually stays together from part 1 to part 2, but a few players can change over.
Keeping your spot for part 2
Existing team members get a guaranteed spot in part 2 through auto-renewal, so you're not racing anyone for a place. Any spots left after the renewal date are sold first come, first served. How renewal works, and how to opt out, is in Does my season renew automatically, and how do I stop it?.
How to tell if a listing is a split season
The listing shows how many games are in that registration. See How to read a league listing.
