Every league listing carries the same five pieces of information, and reading them properly answers most of what people message us about before signing up.

A season is sold as a number of games, and how long it runs varies by competition. The listing shows both. The game count is estimated from the competition provider's data and allows for byes, venue closures and forfeits, so you may end up with more games than the number shown.

Each listing shows an expected competition level and a team skill level. Most comps are social and open to anyone. Advanced leagues say so, in the form 'suitable for intermediate and advanced players only'.

Listings show the range of common start times, for example '7pm and 10pm'. You will not know your exact slot until the fixture is drawn, and it can move week to week. Games can occasionally fall outside the listed range when team numbers change or the venue is unavailable.

Whether it is indoor or outdoor, whether there are change rooms, and parking and public transport. Some listings name a nearby second stadium used for part of the fixture. If yours does, check your game location weekly. See Are games at the same venue every week?
