UPDATE: Tuesday 14th July
Australia is a big place and whether or not you are permitted to participate in sports related activities right now depends on where you are. The latest city by city update of where we operate is as follows:
Perth: Venues are back to operating regular competitions and these are available for registration on our website. Some competitions have already commenced and others are scheduled to commence in the coming weeks and months.
Brisbane: Venues are back to operating regular competitions and these are available for registration on our website. Some competitions have already commenced and others are scheduled to commence in the coming weeks and months.
Adelaide: Venues are back to operating regular competitions and these are available for registration on our website. Some competitions have already commenced and others are scheduled to commence in the coming weeks and months.
Canberra: Venues have a timeline to return to running regular competitions and these are available for registration on our website. Our competitions are scheduled to commence in the coming months.
Sydney: Approximately 75% of venues are back to operating regular competitions and these are available for registration on our website. Some competitions have already commenced and others are scheduled to commence in the coming weeks and months. The remaining 25% are still in return to play planning stages and we will make these venues and competitions available once these venues confirm a return to competition timeline.
Melbourne: All venues are closed due to the reinstated restrictions put in place from Wednesday 8th July. We will provide further updates in due course, but at this stage we are expecting the earliest Melbourne competitions will possibly resume is September / October 😔
All venues that are operating Australia wide have COVID safety measures in place and we will communicate these with you prior to your first game at these venues. General information on the safe return to play is available here.
UPDATE: Monday 10th June
We’re aware of recent Government announcements about the return to sport
(YAY! 🥳) and we’re in close contact with all of our venue partners. At the moment we’re in the process of finalising the details of the return to playing, including start dates for competitions and season details etc.
We’re expecting to be in a position to provide all of our players with more guidance and information by the end of next week and are planning for the resumption of sport in all the cities we operate in before the end of July.
As part of this all venues are finalising their processes for a safe return to play, and we’ll be communicating what these processes and requirements will be ahead of your first game back.
Standby - we’re getting really close now! Thanks for your support and patience during this time.
UPDATE: Monday 1st June
We have some light at the end of the tunnel 🙌
Discussions with our venue partners are progressing and we are beginning to get some clarity around a return to playing. The below is our best estimate for when competitions will resume and we will be updating listings on our website and in our mobile app as soon as we have greater certainty of resumption dates.
Standby players.... we're getting closer.
UPDATE: Monday 4th May
We're working through issues relating to the resumption of sport and will be providing more updates over the coming weeks.
We work with approximately 150 venues across Australia and expect that the dates for seasons and games recommencing could vary state by state. Rest assured we will be doing everything possible to have you back playing as soon as health authorities deem it is safe to do so.
We will be in touch once we have more information and are expecting this to be in the next couple of weeks. We're also finalising monetary credits for affected players and will be providing these as applicable once we have certainty of future seasons and dates from our venue partners.
Thanks for your patience and stay safe. Can't wait for that first game back 🙌
Post from Tuesday 24th March
To our beloved Just Play community, due to the COVID-19 situation all of our venues are temporarily closed as of Monday 23rd March.
We've spent the last 7 years creating Just Play and while this is the toughest time we've ever faced, we're so excited for the day we can get people back playing. We have decided to take this time to reset and will be closing the office while we do this.
For all of our current players - all our team subscriptions have been automatically suspended as of today and we will contact you to reinstate this before we take any new payments after re-opening. There is no need to contact us, we've got you covered.
Returning on the other side:
We're going to be updating everyone with information on their teams / seasons / games as soon as this becomes clear from our partner venues. It's our intention for all our current players to receive the number of games that were paid for prior to this COVID-19 enforced pause. Please understand that refunds are not possible.
Please look after yourself and your loved ones, we look forward to having you back playing as soon as it is safe to do so.
Love from the entire Just Play Team 💙
P.S. This FAQ will be updated as new information comes to hand and we will support our players as this situation unfolds.
Players in teams that have started playing (have had their first game)
The competitions we play in are managed by our competition partners and any decision to suspend a competition is made by our partners. More info on what our partners do and what we do.
We work with over 150 different venues many of which are at different stages of their seasons and will be affected differently. For all competitions we are expecting games to resume following competition suspensions and venue closures and for players to be able to resume playing as soon as it is safe to be able to do so.
We're looking forward to the day we can facilitate games of sport again and can't wait to have you running / shooting / throwing / kicking a ball again.
Still got questions? You can find our full policies listed in our Terms & Conditions. Please understand we are reliant on our partners for any closure dates, lengths and the resumption of competition.
Players yet to start playing (registered for seasons that haven't started yet)
We're planning on getting you out there as soon as it is safe to do so and the government reopens the venues that our competitions run at.
We appreciate that these are unusual times and as such have introduced the option for anyone who has registered for an upcoming season to be provided with a credit for the full amount of their registration that can be used at a later date. If you would like to take up this offer please just send us an in-app message or an email to [email protected] and we can process this for you.
This is a rapidly developing situation and it will continue to be closely monitored by the team at Just Play. Our highest priority is the safety of our players and staff and we are following expert advice from the following organisations on the matter:
At this stage all of the competitions Just Play teams participate in have suspended games. While some have listed a timeframe with a target return date (mostly 2-4 weeks at this stage) others have informed us that games and seasons will resume as soon as it is safe to do so.
Finally, we appreciate your patience and understanding in what is a difficult time for our whole community. We're receiving a lot of enquiries and are doing our best to provide our players with the most up to date information.
We're thankful that what we do isn't life and death and our thoughts are with all those affected by COVID-19 and our health professionals at this time. We'll be updating this FAQ and communicating information that affects you as it comes to hand.
Thanks for your ongoing support - The Just Play team ⚽️🏀🏐🏆
